Anne Roberts died Tuesday, May 25th of natural causes at Freedom Village of Bradenton, Florida.

Anne was born in La Jolla, California on July 20, 1937 to Francis Findlay and Lois Hopkins. She was preceded in death by her older brothers John and Frank and by her older sister, Martha.

Anne attended Stanford University and met her husband, Warren, on a ski trip to Sun Valley, ID. She left her studies to get married and have 4 children in Berkeley, CA.

After relocating to Albany, New York to support Warren's career as a university professor, Anne finished up her degree while raising her children and then went on to earn her Masters (Library Science) and PhD in Children's Literature from SUNY Albany. Anne had a long and rewarding career as a Reference Librarian, specializing in Information Science.

Anne and Warren loved to travel the world and took the family to England for a year in 1970 during Warren's sabbatical. Their fondness for classical music, history, art and culture were legendary and the house parties and intellectual discussions that inevitably ensued marked the way in which Anne and Warren entertained and socialized.

After retiring from the university in 2002, Anne purchased her dream retirement home in Longboat Key, FL where she flourished for over 20 years; enjoying the opera, museums, art galleries and other rich cultural elements that are plentiful in the greater Sarasota area. Truly a social butterfly, Anne thrived on her personal relationships, and she made friends wherever she went. She made a lasting impression on people and will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her four children; Carissa (nee Erin), James (Susan), Thomas and Peter; and six grandchildren Kyle, Austin, Nolan and Surawit Roberts and Stuart and Hillary Williams.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 14th at 10:00 am at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church on Longboat Key, Florida, with a reception following.

Contributions in lieu of flowers can be sent to Southeastern Guide Dogs or the Save the Manatee Club.
