Anthony Caputo

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Anthony "Tony" Caputo, who left us on July 17, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, Tony lived a rich and meaningful life defined by love, laughter, and deep connections with others.

Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Tony proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard as a young man. After his military service, he dedicated many years to a career with the U.S. Postal Service before retiring. Known for his steady presence, kind spirit, and quiet sense of humor, Tony left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Tony had a lifelong love of the outdoors and was never happier than when he was near the water with a fishing pole in hand. He appreciated the simple beauty of nature and even had his own "ant theory" for those lucky enough to hear it.

Above all, Tony loved being a dad. He especially cherished his years coaching Little League baseball, sharing his time, his heart, and his love for the game with his boys. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Kathy; his cherished mother, Rosemarie, age 90; and his four children: Sam, Jena and her husband Shane, Joey and his wife Jhona, and Evan and his wife Morgan. He was a proud grandfather of five, with one more on the way, and was lovingly known as Grampy T to his grandchildren. He treasured every moment spent with them.

He is also survived by his beloved siblings: Valerie, Paul, Frankie, and David, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and a large extended family who remained close throughout his life.

Tony will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, and adventurous spirit. We take comfort knowing his soul has found peace and rest in the presence of the Lord in Heaven. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the memories that will be held tightly by all who loved him.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on July 31st at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony's honor to organizations supporting veterans, ocean conservation, or NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)-causes close to his heart and family.
