Area Named Number One for Doctors

BRADENTON – The metropolitan area of North Port, Bradenton, and Sarasota were recently named the number one area in the country for doctors to live and practice by data and analysis site Value Penguin. The site praised the region, saying, "These are three quintessential Floridian towns for doctors to hang their shingles in."

According to Value Penguin, the average salary for doctors in our area is $228,190 – well above the national average of $179,651 and not far from the top-earning Waterloo/Cedar Falls area of Iowa ($244,180). The relatively low cost of living is here was also a positive factor. 

The site also noted the area's beaches golf courses and nature preserves as positives. The area topped out the list, surpassing some other notable cities. The site comprised a list of 500 cities, the top five of which are listed below.

2. Des Moines-West Des Moines, IA

3. St. Joseph, MO

4. La Crosse, WI

5. Portsmouth, NH
