ArtSlam Puppets and More in the Village of the Arts on Saturday

BRADENTON – ArtSlam, a celebration of the arts featuring dozens of artists, musicians, performers, installation art, and interactive art experiences, returns this Saturday from noon-10 p.m. In addition to the activities on Old Main, the Village of the Arts will be puppet central with interactive creation stations, puppet theatre and The Great Puppet Procession.

There will be interactive creation stations from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the following locations: Viktoriaʼs Art and Crafts, The Dancing Crane Gallery, Ewe and Eye, Little Swamp, Baobab Tree, Divine Excess, Artistic Eye, Clay in the Garden, Village Mystic, 12th Street West Gallery, Village Sharpening, and Keetonʼs and Manatee Co. Library will be in the Village also!

The creation stations will feature hand painted puppets, paper bag puppets, felt finger puppets, marionettes, bugs on a stick, sock puppets, origami puppets, Brazilian paper puppets, Crystal puppets, puppets on a stick,tube and paper bag puppets, cardboard people puppet making, and library card registration.

Jo-Ellen Gorris (Clay in the Garden: Puppet Power Playhouse) and Bonni Brown (Bonni Bakes) will have puppet theatres for folks to act out their own puppet plays. Bonni also has some puppeteers coming in to do special programs.

The Great Puppet Procession will feature giant puppets (and anyone else who wants to join in!) People and puppets will assemble at Gracielaʼs Green on the corner of 12th St. W and 11th Ave. to begin procession around the Village beginning at 2:00 pm. The Bradentucky Bombers will lead the procession. There will be a water break at Ortygia. Live music will take place throughout the Village from noon until 10 p.m.
