LONGBOAT KEY – The third annual “Bacchus on the Beach” Celebration of Food & Wine returns this weekend at the beautiful Resort at Longboat Key Club. More than 50 wineries, distillers and craft brewers will be in attendance. As always, the wines and spirits will be accompanied with cuisine prepared by the resort's world-renowned culinary team. Events begin on Friday and culminate with Saturday's Stone Crab Celebration and Wine Tasting.

Things get started on Friday evening, with four Vintner Dinners on the club's grounds – Dinner with the Masters, Kings of California Pinot, Italian-American Club, and Whiskey Smoker – each of which has been planned by the Club’s award-winning chefs and pairings with specialty wines, as well as selections from guest winemakers and distillers.

The action continues on Saturday afternoon with the Passion of the Pig, where guests can mingle with winemakers, while enjoying whole pig barbecue and other delicacies. The event is hosted by Goose Island Brewery and Sweetwater Brewery with support from Gold Coast Eagle Distributors.

The main event of the weekend takes place Saturday evening. The Stone Crab Celebration and Wine Tasting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the beach festival tent along the resort's pristine beach, and should feature one heck of a sunset. Guests will enjoy food, entertainment, wine tastings and a live charity auction.

This year’s event will benefit the Child Protection Center. CPC's mission is the prevention, intervention and treatment of child abuse. Over 30,000 children are treated at the center annually.

CPC serves as a safe refuge for children that are being abused, a treatment center to start the healing process, an educational center for individuals and the general public and as a place of hope for children and families seeking assistance.

No child is turned away and proceeds from the “Bacchus on the Beach” festivities will help to ensure that the resources of the Child Protection Center remain available.

There are several individual ticket and package options available for this weekend's events. Click here (PDF) for more information on specific events, or call 941.387.1675 for event reservations.
