Bayside Pet Resort Gets BOCC Approval

Posted

BRADENTON -- Misty Servia, Planning Department Manager for King Engineering, representing Bayside Pet Resort,  got final approval Tuesday, to revamp the old Rip Van Winkle Bowling Alley. Her clients plan to spend a couple of million dollars to create a luxury pet hotel. It will be located across from the Bradenton/Sarasota International Airport, on South US 41 (Tamiami Trail), AKA the Southern Gateway into Manatee County.

Servia says the owners will be creating many jobs and will focus on providing jobs and training for some of the Easter Seals Southwest Florida graduates. The modern facility will have internet cameras for families to check in on their pet from anywhere in the world. The 21,109 sq. ft. air-conditioned, 161 kennel accommodations will have a variety of suites, and all will get first rate attention. Some pets will even be able to view Lassie or Rin Tin Tin on the Retro Channel, as they lie on a comfortable couch or hang out with their buddy in a kennel for two.

There will be plenty of landscaping to spice up their property at the "Gateway," as well as a state of the art sound-suppressing interior to keep the barks indoors. Commissioners did put a sound ordinance stipulation in the approval as a caveat.
