Billy Joe Barnes, 85, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of St. Charles and Aurora, IL, passed away on December 26, 2023. Bill was born on September 15, 1938, to Jesse and Bertha Louise Barnes, in Bernie, MO.
Bill loved his family dearly and loved to make people laugh. Bill enjoyed playing and watching golf, watching his beloved Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, and reading mystery novels. He had many friends in his building and at his church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Betty, and his daughter, Shelley.
He is survived by his sister, Judy; son, Ed (Susan) Gocher; daughters, Kelley (Chris) Casner and Kari (Greg) Reiseck. He also had 8 grandchildren: Shawn, Tyler, Adam, Rebekah, Stephanie, Brady, Josie, and Keagan, and 6 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Bill's life will be 3 PM, Friday, January 12, 2024, at Browns & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34207. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to Chicago Bears Cares or Chicago Cubs Cares charities.
