BRADENTON -- At Thursday's land use meeting, commissioners gave a preliminary approval for a Race Trac gas station at Pearl Rd. and U.S. 41. In other business, commissioners voted to approve an Urban Service Area, but the vote was not unanimous, and some of the issues were continued until August 6, due to tornado warnings.

-- Residents flocked into the chambers to contest a Race Trac proposal to put a new convenient store/gas station on the corner of Pearl Avenue. and U.S. 41. The complaints came from over a dozen residents and twice that many cheered them on.
