BOCC Land Use Meeting Agenda Results 6/6/2013

BRADENTON -- At Thursday's land use meeting, commissioners gave a preliminary approval for a Race Trac gas station at Pearl Rd. and U.S. 41. In other business, commissioners voted to approve an Urban Service Area, but the vote was not unanimous, and some of the issues were continued until August 6, due to tornado warnings.

  -- Residents flocked into the chambers to contest a Race Trac proposal to put a new convenient store/gas station on the corner of Pearl Avenue. and U.S. 41. The complaints came from over a dozen residents and twice that many cheered them on. But above and beyond the request of all but one speaker, commissioners gave the applicant the green light. -- Approved, 5 to 2, DiSabatino and Whitmore dissenting. (full story to follow)

DiSabatino wanted the undeveloped coastal region that was included in the Urban Service Area to be excluded from the designated map. -- Approved, 5 to 2,  DiSabatino and Gallen dissent.
