BRADENTON – On Saturday, December 17, the Bower Foundation held its 11th annual Christmas shoe purchase program for local children in need.
Each year children everywhere are wearing shoes that are worn and dirty or shoes that no longer fit, and some children don’t have any shoes at all. Every holiday season dozens of local organizations help to provide toys or food for families in need, but no organization helps with the basic need of a reliable pair of shoes.
The event took place at Walmart on 53rd Avenue East and 100% of the proceeds collected went toward the purchase of shoes for children, who were able to pick out their own pair of shoes on-site.
