RADENTON – State Rep. Jim Boyd (R-Bradenton) has been named chair of the House State Affairs Committee. Boyd was placed in the position by House Speaker Will Weatherford (R-Wesley Chapel) in lieu of Orlando area Rep. Steve Precourt's recent resignation.

Precourt had previously been slotted for the chairmanship, but recently resigned to take a job with the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority.

Boyd, who was first elected in 2010, will leave his post as chairman of two House subcommittees; Ethics and Elections and Government Operations, and will also serve as a member of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Subcommittee; the Select Committee on Gaming and the Joint Committee on Public Counsel Oversight.
