BPD Officers of the Month

Posted

BRADENTON — Bradenton police Sgt. William Weldon and Master Patrol Officer Christopher Hutchko are being honored as the department's officers of the month for September 2014 for saving the life of an unresponsive woman.

On the afternoon of August 18, Sgt. Weldon and Officer Hutchko were conducting traffic enforcement near a school when they heard a nearby resident yelling for help because his wife wasn't breathing. Officer Hutchko ran to the residence and found the woman on the floor with no pulse. He immediately called Bradenton Police Department's Dispatch Center and requested EMS, then began CPR.

Moments later, Hutchko was joined by Sgt. Weldon and, as a team, both officers continued CPR. A short time later, the woman began to regain consciousness and was able to respond to officers. EMS transported her to the hospital.

Police say that the quick actions of Sgt. Weldon and Officer Hutchko certainly saved the woman's life.
