BRADENTON – The Marauders (22-25) defeated the Daytona Cubs (16-27) on a peculiar play with two outs in the bottom of the ninth on Thursday night at McKechnie Field. Trailing 1-0 with Josh Bell at second base and Eric Wood at first, Jacob Stallings hit a short pop fly to left field. The ball’s flight path allowed it to drop in the midst of four Daytona players, plating both runs and giving the Marauders a last at-bat win.

The game-winning rally started with a soft opposite field single by Bell off Zach Godley (L, 1-1). Godley bounced back to strike out Jonathan Schwind and Max Moroff, with Bell stealing second as Moroff struck out on a 3-2 pitch. Wood walked in front of Stallings.

Daytona plated its only run in the second inning. Wilson Contreras led off with a triple against Tyler Glasnow. Gioskar Amaya promptly brought Contreras home with a sacrifice fly. Glasnow pitched four innings and struck out six. Contreras went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple for Daytona.

Thomas Harlan pitched four scoreless innings in relief for the Marauders. Jhondaniel Medina (W, 2-0) pitched a perfect top of the ninth for the win.

The Marauders and Cubs wrap up their series on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Chad Kuhl will be on the mound for Bradenton. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
