BRADENTON – The Marauders (52-44, 17-9) scored in the first inning and never trailed in a 4-2 win over the Clearwater Threshers (28-68, 11-17) on Saturday night at McKechnie Field. Justin Maffei finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 3-for-3 with his first home run of the season.

Bradenton opened the scoring against Threshers starter Aaron Nola (L, 1-3). Adam Frazier singled, stole second, moved to third on a ground out to first, and scored on Jose Osuna’s grounder to third. Maffei doubled the lead in the second inning, blasting a solo homer to left off the Phillies first round pick.

Chad Kuhl (W, 10-5) earned his league leading 10th win with six strong innings. Kuhl surrendered one run on seven hits, striking out three and walking one. Matt Benedict pitched 1 2/3 innings out of the bullpen, surrendering a solo home run to Roman Quinn in the eighth. Josh Smith (S, 4) recorded a four out save.
