BRADENTON – The Bradenton Marauders (43-39, 8-5) lost a 5-0 lead in the ninth, but scored in the bottom of the 10th to seize a 6-5 win over the Fort Myers Miracle (48-33, 7-5) on Wednesday night at McKechnie Field. Chad Kuhl wound up with a no-decision, but tossed seven innings of two-hit, shutout ball.
The Marauders struck quickly against Fort Myers start Tim Shibuya, ending the righty’s 19-inning scoreless streak in the first inning. Doubles by Adam Frazier, Max Moroff, and Jordan Steranka helped Bradenton jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Bradenton plated two more runs in the third inning. Moroff smashed his first home run of the season leading off the frame. Josh Bell and Jose Osuna followed with singles, and Eric Wood drove home Bell with a double to give Bradenton its largest lead at 5-0.
Jhondaniel Medina pitched a scoreless eighth inning. Robby Rowland (W, 3-7) took over in the ninth. Adam Brett Walker and Dalton Hicks each connected for two-out, two- run home runs.
Steranka led off with a double to left in the bottom of the 10th against Tyler Jones (L, 1-2). Wood put down a sacrifice bunt and reached on an error by Jones. Walker Gourley lined out softly to second base, but Raul Fortunato followed with a soft ground ball to second base that allowed Steranka to score.
The Marauders go for the sweep on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. John Kuchno will pitch for the Marauders against Miracle lefty Matt Tomshaw.
