BRADENTON -- We The Kings are making it happen. Tonight, they will close out a Rays' game at Tropicana Field for the second time. The four kids from Bradenton, who named their band after King Middle School, which they all attended, are inching toward a platinum record. The

band built an online buzz posting videos to the social network site Purevolume, which helped them get signed to S-Curve Records, an EMI imprint.

Their self-titled 2007 debut spawned a breakthrough hit, "Check Yes Juliet", which is currently on pace to sell a million copies and earn the coveted Platinum Record Certification, an increasingly difficult task in the age of digital music files. The exposure led to appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and MTV's Spring Break '08, as well as a spot on the Warped Tour. The momentum catapulted sales of their follow up album, "Smile Kid", and a third Top 40 hit, "We'll be a Dream." The band has also gathered fans through a series of tour bus webisodes called "The King's Carriage."

Though the band is enjoying a taste of the big time, they haven't forgotten their roots and songs like, "August is Over", and "This is Our Town", speak directly to their experiences growing up in Manatee County. We The Kings has been named MTV's "Artists to Watch" for 2010. For Travis Clark, Danny Duncan, and Drew and Hunter Thomsen, rocking out the Trop for thousands of local fans is just another day in a dream come true life.
