BRADENTON – At Wednesday night's meeting, the Bradenton City Council unanimously voted to approve the construction of a gas station at the intersection of the only entrance to a major subdivision, much to the chagrin its residents. In other business, council members approved an ordinance that targets hazardous dumping by illicit drug labs, and another on private road construction. Councilman Harold Byrd was absent from the meeting.

- Fair Housing Month – Speaking for Mayor Wayne Poston, City Clerk Carl Callahan read aloud the proclamation for Fair Housing Month, directed at Director of Planning and Community Development, Timothy Polk. Mr. Polk said he was honored to receive the proclamation for his department.
- National Tartan Day – April 6 - Callahan also read aloud the proclamation for National Tartan Day, directed at a members of various Scottish-American clans in attendance. "I accept this proclamation with great humility," the man said, then gifted the council with an assortment of Scottish shortbread cookies as a token of gratitude.

The item, which would allow the Farmers' Market to close off the street they will be selling their product on during the day of April 6, was separated from the rest of the consent agenda in order to allow for further discussion.
Councilman and Vice Mayor Gene Gallo asked, "If we approve (this one-day relocation this for the Farmer's Market), is it not going to open up the possibility for any neighborhood being able to close a certain street off for, example, a neighborhood yard sale?" City Attorney Bill Lisch advised that no precedent would be set for approving the Market's closing off the street it will be selling its product on, and that such closings would still be judged individually in the future. The item was approved unanimously soon afterward, with Byrd absent.
k) Maintenance agreement with Florida Department of Transportation.
