Bradenton City Council Approves First Readings of Ordinances to Allow Development East of SR 64 Gas Station

Posted

BRADENTON – At Wednesday's meeting, the Bradenton City Council approved a first reading of an ordinance that if ultimately approved, would allow development of an as-of-yet unspecified retail property to the east of a recently approved development site for a WaWa gas station at 4465 State Road 64 East.

The allowance of the site would come by way of amending the city's future land use map, and changing the site's future land use designation from a county residental-6 to city suburban commercial corridor.

The first reading of Ordinances 2959 and 2960 passed with no opposition from the public or from any members of the council. Speaking afterward, Councilman Patrick Roff said that did not know of any public opposition communicated to the council prior to the meeting.

The approval comes after last week's recommendation by the Bradenton Planning Commission to approve said amendments. A second reading and public hearing of the ordinance is now set to take place at the BCC meeting on March 12.
