Bradenton Marauders Announce 2014 Schedule

BRADENTON – The Bradenton Marauders, the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, have released the 2014 Florida State League schedule (click here for PDF). The Marauders’ first home game of the season at McKechnie Field is on Saturday, April 5 against the Charlotte Stone Crabs. The season begins at Charlotte on Thursday, April 3.

Non-Sunday home games will be played at 6:30 p.m. Sunday home games in April and May will be played at 1:00 p.m. Sunday home games in June, July, and August will start at 5:00 p.m. The game on Thursday, June 12, will also be a 5:00 game. The Marauders will host four games with special 10:30 a.m. start times. The Marauders will hold Education Day on Wednesday, May 21 and Camp Days on Tuesday, June 24, and Wednesday, July 23 with special 10:30 a.m. start times. The Marauders’ regular season finale on Sunday, August 31 will also begin at 10:30 a.m. McKechnie Field will be the site of the 2014 Florida State League All Star Game, which will be played on Saturday, June 14 at 7:05 p.m.

The Marauders get the season started with a pair of five-game home stands in the month of April. The busiest month of the season will be May, featuring 18 games at McKechnie Field. Bradenton’s longest home stand of the seasons will be a seven-game stretch to begin the month of August.

Charlotte, a Tampa Bay Rays affiliate, will be the Marauders’ most frequent opponent in 2014. The Marauders and Stone Crabs face each other 20 times, including 10 meetings at McKechnie Field. The other four South Division teams, Fort Myers (Minnesota Twins), Jupiter (Miami Marlins), Palm Beach (St. Louis Cardinals), and St. Lucie (New York Mets) will each visit McKechnie Field for nine games in 2014.

The 2013 Florida State League Champion Daytona Cubs, affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, will face the Marauders four times at McKechnie Field from May 20-23 as part of the Marauders interdivision slate. For the first time ever, the Marauders will host nearby North Division opponents Dunedin (Toronto Blue Jays) and Tampa (New York Yankees affiliate) in both halves of the season. Bradenton also hosts Brevard County (Milwaukee Brewers), Clearwater (Philadelphia Phillies), and Lakeland (Detroit Tigers) for four-game series.
