Bradenton No Kings Day Protest Set for Saturday

Posted

BRADENTON — “No Kings Day” activists will protest in Manatee County on Saturday, as part of simultaneous events nationwide. Hundreds have registered to participate in the two-hour peaceful rally at the University Town Center (along the south side of University Parkway, west of N. Cattlemen Rd.), starting at 9:00 am. Another will be staged at 5584 Cortez Rd W from 10 a.m. to noon.

In keeping with the theme of previous events, Indivisible Manatee protesters want to draw attention to the authoritarian actions of President Trump as well as the dangers posed to our democracy by the actions of this administration.

Organizers explain that the October event is the second No Kings Day of Action, building momentum on monthly displays of opposition to the ongoing attacks on our freedoms.

“Authoritarian takeover of cities, defying the courts, deporting American citizens, and disappearing people off streets, cutting vital services— these are happening every day in cities across the country, and it has to stop,” explained Liv Coleman of the Indivisible Manatee leadership team. “From the media, to higher education, to the environment, to healthcare, our rights are being compromised,” she added.

The non-partisan efforts of No Kings Day have been drawing supporters from a wide swath of the Manatee County community. “We welcome anyone and everyone to join our ranks because what is happening now will impact all our lives for generations to come,” said Coleman, encouraging interested parties to sign up through NoKings.org. She says the simple message for the millions who will participate in Saturday’s events is “We don’t do kings in America.”

The largest “No Kings Day” event took place on June 14, 2025, when more than five million people across all 50 states participated in the largest single-day protest yet against Donald Trump’s authoritarianism. The October 18 Day of Action has a record number of events registered at NoKings.org and is considered the next step in this growing movement. “This country doesn’t belong to kings. It belongs to the people,” said Coleman, “and that’s who we are fighting for – all of us.”

Call it what it is, Hate Trump Rally. Why are there no leaders of this movement trying to convince Democrats to reopen the government to pay our military? It's all an obvious stunt. There is no "King", and therefore no reason to protest. With the government closed, we all see how much waste there is with non-essential employees in non-essential departments, using taxpayer dollars to pretend they are important. Give up the charade liberals.
