DUNEDIN – The Marauders (20-24) rallied in the eighth to force extra innings and went on to win 5-4 in 10 frames over the Dunedin Blue Jays (31-12) on Monday night at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. The Bradenton bullpen was outstanding, facing the minimum over five innings. Ryan Hafner pitched three perfect innings, followed by Bryton Trepagnier (W, 3-0) firing a scoreless ninth and a flawless 10th.

Walker Gourley started the 10th inning rally with a single to left field against Danny Barnes (L, 0-3) with one out. Jeff Roy followed with a double off the wall in right field to score Gourley from first.

Jonathan Schwind opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning off Ben White. The Dunedin starter pitched five innings and struck out six. He allowed two home runs, as Josh Bell tagged him for a solo home run leading off the third inning.

The Blue Jays were quiet on offense in every inning except one, but made the bottom of the second count in a big way against Pat Ludwig. Derrick Chung doubled on the first pitch of the inning, and the next pitch was crushed by Nick Baligod for a game-tying two-run home run. Christian Lopes walked and raced all the way around to score on Gustavo Pierre’s double. Pierre himself scored on a single by Jorge Flores. Ludwig recovered to set down the top of the lineup in order with two strikeouts and went on to pitch five innings with four total strikeouts.

Trailing 4-3 in the eighth, Taylor Lewis reached on as error by first basemen Kevin Patterson. Lewis proceeded to steal second and third as Gourley worked a walk. Roy chopped a single over Patterson to bring Lewis in to tie the score 4-4 and send Gourley to third. Gourley attempted to score on Ashley Ponce’s fly out to right but was thrown out at the plate.

The Marauders return home to open a three-game series against Daytona on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Orlando Castro will be on the hill for the Marauders.
