Business and government: The week ahead

The party's over. After two weeks of a reduced government schedule, government meetings crank up again.

 

Palmetto City Commission

The Palmetto City Commission meets in a workshop from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday night and then has a regular meeting at 7 p.m. at Palmetto City Hall, 516 Eighth Ave. W. in Palmetto. On the agenda is the Capital Improvement Program that was tabled at the Dec. 21 meeting, an amendment to the Regatta Pointe sublease and the approval of demolition of a condemned property. There will also be a meeting of the board of the Community Redevelopment Agency.

 

Council of Governments

The Council of Governments will hold a meeting from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the Manatee Civic Center, Longboat Key Room.

 

Bradenton City Council

The Bradenton City Council will hold a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday for the swearing in of elected officials, and will meet for a workshop at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the City Council Chambers at 101 Old Main St., Bradenton.

 

Manatee County Commission

On Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the commissioners will meet at the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., for the first Land Use meeting of the year. On the agenda is a discussion of whether changes to the Tara-Manatee Development of Regional Impact constitute a substantial deviation, but the hearing will be continued to March 4. Also, there are changes to the University Groves project.

Other governmental bodies have meetings this week:

 

  • The Longboat Key Town Commission will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Longboat Key Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road, Longboat Key.

  • The Value Adjustment Board Special Magistrate will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday in the Fountain Conference Room at the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.

  • The Bradenton Beach City Commission will meet at 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bradenton Beach City Hall, 107 Gulf Drive N., Bradenton Beach.

  • The Bradenton Tree and Land Preservation Board will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday in the City Hall Planning Conference Room.

  • The Longboat Key Town Commission will have a special meeting at 9 a.m. Friday at Temple Beth Israel, 567 Bay Isles Road, to discuss the Longboat Key Club.

 

Business

There is one business story this week, about a program on Thursday to help people start or expand a business.
