Business and government: The week ahead

Several government bodies will be having meetings this week.

 

Manatee County School Board

The School Board meets on Monday at 5:45 p.m. at district headquarters, 215 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. There's a short consent agenda, a student celebration, and discussions planned on amendments on school advisory councils and complaints and grievance procedures.

 

Manatee County Commission

The Manatee County Commission will hold its first meeting of the year at the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W. Items on the agenda include the employee of the month, a 10 a.m. time certain for Palmetto Park and Ride and in the consent agenda a settlement on a parcel on 17th Street West and a settlement of litigation involving the Sheriff's Office.

 

Palmetto CRA Advisory Board

The Palmetto City Commission meets on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Palmetto City Hall, 516 Eighth Ave. W. in Palmetto.

 

Bradenton City Council

The Bradenton City Council will meet at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the City Council Chambers at 101 Old Main St., Bradenton. Along with the technology items on the consent agenda, the council will be having a first reading on amendments to the firefighters' retirement system, a first reading on an amendment to the comprehensive plan and a first reading on changes to "The City of Bradenton Traffic Light Safety Act." There will also be a resolution to prohibit right turns on red for southbound traffic on 10th Street West and Manatee Avenue West.

Other governmental bodies have meetings this week:

 

  • The Value Adjustment Board Special Magistrate will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in the Fountain Conference Room at the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.

  • The Manatee County Planning Commission will meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the County Commission chambers at the county Administrative Center..

  • The Anna Maria City Commission will hold a worksession at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 10005 Gulf Drive in Anna Maria.

  • The Downtown Development Authority Public Art Advisory Board will have a meeting at 8:30 a.m. at Bradenton City Hall.

 

Business

There is one business story this week, about a local company that will be making doors for electric cars.
