Business and government: The week ahead

It's a busy week for government, with several government organizations having meetings this week.

 

Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization

The Sarasota/Manatee MPO will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Sudakoff Center at New College, 5700 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. Items on the agenda include a report on the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority and a long-range transportation plan update.

 

Palmetto City Commission

The Palmetto City Commission will meet for a workshop at 4:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 516 Eighth Ave. W., Palmetto. There is a proposed charter amendment ordinance and an RFP for the Green Bridge Bait Shop. The City Commission meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the same location. In addition to the bait shop, items on the agenda include a police department reaccreditation agreement and an energy efficiency and conservation block grant.

 

Manatee County School Board

The School Board meets at 5:45 p.m. Monday at district headquarters, 215 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. The Manatee High School football team will be celebrated for its successful season, there will be a report on the Second Energy Challenge Awards, the school calendar for 2010-11 will be considered, and there is a measure to approve a charter school at State College of Florida.

 

Manatee County Commission

The County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the Commission Chambers, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Items on the agenda include approval for financial support of the beach trolley, continuance of the Silverleaf development issues to March 4 and median landscaping on State Road 64.

 

Bradenton City Council

The Bradenton City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 101 Old Main St. in Bradenton. Items on the agenda include land use changes, changes to the police officers' retirement system, a hearing to resolve a state Department of Community Affairs not-in-compliance finding for the city's Comp Plan Amendment and a hearing on roads.

  • The Value Adjustment Board Special Magistrate will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in the Fountain Conference Room at the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.

  • The Public Safety Coordinating Council will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Fountain Conference Room at the County Administrative Center.

  • The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee will meet at 3 p.m. Monday in the Manatee Room on the fifth floor of the Administrative Center.

  • The Neglected Cemeteries Ad Hoc Task Force will meet at 5 p.m. Monday in room 354 on the third floor of the Administrative Center.

  • The Bradenton Downtown Development Authority will meet at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 101 Old Main St., Bradenton.

  • The Holmes Beach City Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 5801 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach.

  • The Palmetto Code Enforcement Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 516 Eighth Ave. W., Palmetto.

  • The Special Magistrate will hold hearings from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday in the County Commission Chambers.

  • The Planning Task Force will meet at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the fifth-floor conference room, Room 502, at the Administrative Center.

  • The 14th Street West CRA will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church and School, 1611 30th Ave. W., in Bradenton.

  • The Anna Maria City Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 10005 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria.

  • The Bradenton Central Community Redevelopment Agency will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at Bradenton City Hall.

  • The Palmetto CRA/CRA Advisory Board Joint Workshop Meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Palmetto City Hall.

 

Business

There is an article about a Keller Williams Realty associate, and local sites will be offering help with preparing and filing tax forms.
