Business and government: The week ahead

Several government bodies have meetings this week.

 

Tourist Development Council

The Tourist Development Council will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Powel Crosley Estate, 8374 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Items on the agenda include a sports update and request for nearly $40,000 for 14 sports tournaments, a discussion of the De Soto Heritage Festival, and updates on domestic public relations and international marketing and public relations.

 

Manatee County School Board

The School Board will meet at 5:45 p.m. Monday at district headquarters, 215 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. There will be a celebration of 100 years of the Boy Scouts and another attempt to set a public hearing on school advisory councils.

 

Manatee County Commission

The County Commission will hold its regular meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the County Commission chambers in the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Items on the agenda include the Cooper Creek Master Signage Plan and the ordinance on Personal Wireless Service Facilities.

 

Bradenton City Council

The Bradenton City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday with several items on the consent agenda, including the 2010 Port Security Grant Application, a request to block street parking on March 20 for a plant sale, some public events and a special event.

Other governmental bodies have meetings this week:

 

  • The Public Safety Coordinating Council will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Fountain Conference Room at the Manatee County Administrative Center.

  • The Palmetto Code Enforcement Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Palmetto City Hall, 516 Eighth Ave. W., Palmetto.

  • The Anna Maria Planning & Zoning Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 10005 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria.

  • The Holmes Beach City Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holmes Beach City Hall, 5801 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach.

  • There will be Special Magistrate Hearings at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the County Commission chambers.

  • The Children's Services Advisory Board Subcommittee will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Central Library's Computer Lab on the second floor.

  • The Planning Task Force will meet at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the County Administration Building in Room 502.

  • The 14th Street West CRA will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church and School, 1611 30th Ave. W., Bradenton.

  • The Anna Maria City Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 10005 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria.
