Business and government: The week ahead

Several government bodies have meetings this week.

 

Manatee County School Board

The School Board will meet at 5:45 p.m. Monday at district headquarters, 215 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, for a workshop to discuss solar energy, the governor's budget and student enrollment trends. There will also be a town hall meeting on the school budget at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

 

Manatee County Commission

The County Commission will hold a strategic workshop at 9 a.m. Monday on the Fifth Floor in the Manatee Room 502 at the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Topics on the agenda include the state legislative update, the NACO Washington update, a planning update, a debt report and a budget update. There will also be a Land Use Meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday with a presentation upon request of the DRI for Tara-Manatee Inc., but it will be continued to April 27. There will be a hearing on Moody Branch about rezoning nearly 950 acres on Taylor Grade Road, and hearings on Riverview Pointe, Duke Ranch and Silverleaf.

 

Palmetto City Commission and CRA

The Palmetto City Commission will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday for a workshop and at 7 p.m. Monday for a regular meeting. The commissioners will discuss an FDOT supplemental agreement for its participation in the resurfacing of 10th Street West from Eighth Avenue West to 14th Avenue West and a lease/purchase agreement for four police vehicles. In the CRA meeting, there will be the election of a chairman and vice chairman, the Olympia Theater business plan and the Jupiter Marine compliance audit item.

 

In other meetings

Other governmental bodies have meetings this week:

 

  • The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee will meet at 3 p.m. Monday in Room 502 on the fifth floor at the Manatee County Administrative Center.

  • The Longboat Key Town Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road, Longboat Key.

  • There will be a Neighborhood Information Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Oneco Baptist Church, 1700 51st Ave. E., Bradenton, to discuss the Capital Improvement Road Project at 15th Street East and 51st Avenue East.

  • The Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Charlotte County Administrative Center, 18500 Murdock Circle, Port Charlotte.

  • The Anna Maria City Commission and Planning and Zoning Board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 10005 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria, for a work session.

  • The Bradenton Beach City Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at
    City Hall, 107 Gulf Drive North, Bradenton Beach.

 

Business

In business news, there are stories about a new program to help working parents find good jobs and two Manatee County companies that are getting incentives for creating jobs.
