Calvin Duncan, Sr.

Calvin LaWayne Presha Duncan, Sr. a.k.a "Callahan" and "Dick" was born on February 4, 1953, to Mildred Presha Duncan and the late, Roosevelt Washington Sr. of Palmetto, Florida.

At the age of 12, Calvin moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut with his mother and adopted father, Casey Duncan. Calvin attended Jettie S. Tisdale Middle School and graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1970. He attended Laney College in Oakland, California, and earned a Master of Business Administration from CSU, in Los Angeles, California.

In 1971, Calvin became a member of the United States Armed Forces (Army) and was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was honorably discharged in 1973. After leaving the Military, Calvin served as the Regional Financial Manager of Lincoln National Life Insurance Company in Bridgeport Connecticut. He later became the CFO of Auto City in Smyrna, Georgia.

Calvin was converted at the age of 16, under the Leadership of Reverend Edgar Lashley of Ebenezer Gospel Assembly in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Calvin attended Bethel Bible Institute in Jamaica Queens, New York where he earned a Master of Theological Studies. In 1975, Calvin began his journey as an Evangelist to spread the Word of God near and far.

Calvin was a charismatic man of God. He started the "Saturday Night Live" Movement in Bradenton, Florida, and as Minister of Finance, he was instrumental in building First Community Church of God & Christ in Palmetto, Florida. Calvin was a Bright Light. He touched everyone that he encountered.

Calvin was a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, father, uncle, and friend. He leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Mildred Presha Duncan; special uncle/brother, Walter (Mickey) Presha, Sr.; daughters, Tomeka Sanderson, Arielle (Roderick) Schwartz, and Calsi Duncan; son, Calvin (Ryssa) Duncan, Jr.; sisters, Janice Washington, Angela Jackson, Robyn (Errol) Deville, Wanda (Marvin) Washington; brother, Johnny Washington; nine grandchildren, Cayla, Cameron, Niyah, Gaven, Jaison, Issac, Trey, Rex, and Ava; niece, Letecia Washington; special cousin/niece, Haroleasha Presha; and nephew, Roosevelt Hezekiah; and a host of family and friends.

Calvin will be remembered for being a sharp dresser, having a magnetic wit, and contagious laughter.
