BRADENTON – The FWC is hosting a summit to address the lionfish problem over the weekend. Recreational harvest of red snapper closed Oct. 22 in state waters of the Gulf of Mexico, with the final day of harvest being Oct. 21. Stone crab season opened Oct. 15! Capt. Rick Grassett says anglers should catch and release snook fishing before daylight and then look for reds, trout, blues, Spanish mackerel and more in Sarasota Bay. Action with false albacore (little tunny), Spanish mackerel and more should begin in the coastal gulf any time now.
