Petrick struck out six and walked two. He remained on the hill after Allie’s single to strike Willy Garcia out for the third time in the game before being lifted. The righty induced three double plays, facing one over the minimum in the start. Three Cardinals relievers combined on the finals five outs of the game to deal the Marauders their 14thshutout loss.
Zack Dodson (L, 1-7) surrendered a solo home run in the second inning to Jesus Montero for the first run of the game. The game stayed 1-0 until the fifth. Ronny Gil bunted for a base hit, followed by a Colin Walsh walk.
David Popkins was unsuccessful on two bunt attempts, before homering to left to extend the lead to 4-0. Jonathan Rodriguez hit his second double one out later to chase Dodson. Rodriguez later scored on a groundout to complete the scoring.
The Marauders open a four-game series at Tampa on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Robby Rowland will start for Bradenton. The game will be broadcast online on www.BradentonMarauders.com.
