Gamache struck early, driving a 1-2 pitch out to left field with two down against Hector Hernandez (W, 1-0). Hernandez loaded the bases before the first was over, but the Marauders stranded the bag full. Hernandez went five innings, allowing two runs and walking four while whiffing three.

The Cardinals plated three runs against Adrian Sampson (L, 3-6) in the bottom of the first. Jonathan Rodriguez had an RBI-single and Anthony Garcia followed on the next pitch with a two-run double. Sampson allowed just three hits over the next five innings and the Cards didn’t score again until the eighth.

Allie drew the Marauders within 3-2 with a solo homer to center with two down in the fifth. In the home half of the inning, Benji Gonzalez threw out a run at the plate for the final out of the frame. Travis Miller and Dean Kiekhefer combined for three innings without allowing a hit. Ronnie Shaban pitched the ninth for his 12th save in 13 opportunities.

Allie and Gamache each added a single in the game. Jose Osuna and D.J. Crumlich each had one hit for the Marauders.

The series finale is Thursday at 6:35 p.m. Zack Dodson will start for the Marauders against Zach Petrick of the Cardinals. The game will be broadcast online at www.BradentonMarauders.com.
