Carolyn Pujol

Posted

Carolyn Pujol (née Logan) was born on January 6, 1943, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Upper Manhattan. After a long, beautiful, and loving life, she entered her heavenly rest on September 27, 2026.

A proud “Bronx girl” through and through, Carolyn attended Sacred Heart School and later graduated from Mother Cabrini High School. From her earliest years, she possessed an unmistakable zest for life, a keen intellect, and a spirit of adventure that would remain with her throughout her 83 years.

As a young woman, Carolyn was ambitious, talented, and determined to make her mark at a time when women were just beginning to find greater opportunities in the corporate world. Her working years began as a teenager at Lou’s Five and Dime on Ogden Avenue in the Bronx, right next to St. Eugene’s Chapel, where her family attended Sunday Mass. From there, she took the bus to and from W. T. Grant’s department store on Fordham Road, where her natural abilities and strong work ethic eventually led her into management at the company’s Port Chester location.

Carolyn continued to distinguish herself professionally, eventually joining Kinney Shoe, where she worked her way up through the ranks, serving as editor of the corporate newspaper before ultimately retiring as Director of Public Relations. Her accomplishments were particularly impressive in an era when corporate leadership was largely dominated by men. Her position afforded her wonderful opportunities to travel, meet celebrities, and enjoy experiences that only added to her remarkable collection of stories. With intelligence, grace, determination, and her unmistakable charm, Carolyn built a career that was both successful and ahead of its time.

When Carolyn met the love of her life, Jerry Pujol, at a New Jersey ski club, she exchanged her accomplished professional life for a new and equally rewarding adventure: marriage to Jerry and the joy of becoming part of a family that included his six children. She would often say that she had inherited six kids—and what an extraordinary adventure it was! Whether Carolyn and Jerry were bicycling for six weeks from Oregon to Mexico City, running eight miles across the Golden Gate Bridge, or spending a year immersed in the beauty and charm of England’s rural Cotswolds, they embraced life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and an enduring love for one another.

Together, they created a life filled with travel, laughter, friendship, and unforgettable experiences. After living in New York and New Jersey for many years, they eventually made their way south to Florida, first settling in Lakewood Ranch and later in Bradenton, where they enjoyed the warmth, sunshine, and wonderful friendships of their community. Some might say Carolyn and Jerry lived a fairy-tale life. And in many ways, they did. As true soulmates, they shared not only a love of adventure but also a deep devotion to one another and to the family they cherished. Their greatest blessings were always their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

But Carolyn’s life was about so much more than the places she traveled or the professional success she achieved. It was about the person she was and the way she made others feel. If you were fortunate enough to know Carolyn, you knew a woman who was vibrant, thoughtful, generous to a fault, and blessed with a wonderful sense of humor. She possessed a sharp wit, a curious mind, and an infectious enthusiasm for life. Whether she was running marathons, skiing down mountains, enjoying time with friends, or simply sharing a good story, Carolyn had a way of making life more interesting and a little more fun.

She loved deeply, gave generously, and embraced each chapter of her life with remarkable energy and spirit. She was a woman who knew how to live, how to laugh, and, most importantly, how to love.

Carolyn will be lovingly remembered by her cherished husband, Jerry Pujol, and their children: John and Theresa Pujol; Annemarie and Elaine Aschennellar; Andy and Esther Pujol; Katheryn Pujol; Carleen and Joe Vitale; Susanne and James Pascale. She will also be deeply missed by her fourteen adored grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy and pride to her life.

Carolyn is also remembered by her family, including her late sister, Mary McCloskey, and Mary’s late husband, Richard McCloskey; her sister-in-law, Kathy Logan, wife of her late brother, Robert Logan; and Susan and John Ward.

Her memory will be treasured by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, both here in the United States and across the pond in Ireland, as well as the many dear friends whose lives she touched along the way.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered kindness, friendship, prayers, and support, particularly during these last few months. Your love and thoughtfulness have meant more than words can express.

Carolyn lived a life filled with purpose, adventure, laughter, and love. Though she will be missed beyond measure, the memories she created, the love she shared, and the remarkable spirit she brought into this world will remain with all who were fortunate enough to know her.

What a wonderful life she lived. And what a beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

A celebration of life for Carolyn will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 11AM at The Community Center at Freedom Village, 651 17th Avenue West, Bradenton, FL. 34209.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Carolyn’s memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
