Central Library to Host Free Summer Events for Kids and Teens

BRADENTON – The Manatee County Central Library will host 7 special events for school age children and teens this summer, beginning June 16 and continuing through July 28. Seating for all of the events is free and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Everyone is welcome to attend, and no registration is necessary. There will also be a schedule of special teen programs.

  • Monday, June 16 at 10:30 a.m.  Ricky Martin and Tricky Dogs       
  • Monday, June 23 at 10:30 a.m.  Fizz! Boom! Read! Rootin, Tootin’ Reading Roundup presented by Showtime for Kids
  • Monday, June 30 at 10:30 a.m.  Hanuman Super Monkey Adventure Folktale from Java presented by Jerry Bickel and Bits ‘n Pieces Theater
  • Monday, July 7 at 10:30 a.m.   Art Techniques
  • Monday, July 14 at 10:30 a.m.  Fizz! Boom! Read! Presented by Parks and Natural Resources
  • Monday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m.  Watershed Science presented by Parks and Natural Resources
  • Monday, July 28 at 10:30 a.m.  The Traveling Civil War Trunk presented by Manatee Village Historical Park


The programs on June 16, 23, and 30 were made possible by generous donations from the Friends of the Central Library

The following free teen programs will also be offered on a first come/first served basis:

  • Saturday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m.  Candy experiments
  • Saturday, June 28 at 2:00 p.m.  Melted crayon art
  • Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 p.m.  Engineer builder’s challenge: high-rise towers
  • Saturday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m.  Craft: sci-fi phone covers + TRIVIA!
  • Saturday, August 9 at 2:00 p.m.  Teen Movie: “The Book Thief”
