Central Library to Host Live Concert

BRADENTON – On Saturday, August 30, The 97th Regimental String Band: A Musical Time Machine, will present Civil War Soldier: Patriotic, Comic, and Sentimental Songs of Both Sides at the Central Library. The performance will be a tie-in to the traveling exhibition for libraries, "Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War," which is currently on display.

Performing while decked out in historically appropriate dress, the band is renowned throughout the Living History community. They have played at Bluegrass festivals, re-enactments, frontier gatherings and major theme parks across the nation.

Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War, is a traveling exhibition for libraries that was organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association Public Programs Office. The traveling exhibition has been made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. It is based on an exhibition of the same name developed by the National Constitution Center.

The concert is free and open to all. It is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. Seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The Central Library is located at 1301 Barcarrota Boulevard West, in Bradenton, Florida.
