Charles "Jeff" Dover, 71, passed away on March 28, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida.
Originally from Alton, Illinois, Jeff moved to Florida in 1969 and fell in love with the beach lifestyle. A skilled carpenter and expert pool cage builder, he worked with C. Dover and Son Carpentry and Wilhite Aluminum before later contributing his creativity to Beach Lizard Candles & Crafts.
Jeff was known for his fun-loving spirit and gentle nature. He found joy in the simple pleasures of lifefishing from his boat, playing on the beach with his nieces and nephews, or relaxing with a good book or an old black-and-white movie. Music was a constant companion, especially the songs of Jimmy Buffett that echoed his love for the sea and sun. His passion for crafting custom scented candles added another layer to his creative soul.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane "Swissy" Dover; his sister Nina (Sam) Beem; his brother Art "Bud" (Kathy) Hanke; two sons Chase and Jason; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Wanda Dover Edwards and Charles Dover.
Jeff spent his final days under the compassionate care of Tidewell Hospice. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and joy in remembering a life well-lived.
May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him.
