PORT CHARLOTTE – The Marauders (12-8) fell behind 5-0 after one inning on Thursday night at Charlotte Sports Park and never trailed by less than five the rest of the night as the Stone Crabs rolled to a 13-6 win. The loss is Bradenton’s third straight and drops the Marauders into a tie for first with the St. Lucie Mets, who the Marauders play in a three-game series on the road this weekend.
The first five Charlotte batters all reached and scored against Jason Creasy (L, 1-1), who was lifted after the first inning. Andy Otamendi and Oderman Rocha made their season debuts for the Marauders, and Thomas Harlan also pitched for Bradenton. Otamendi pitched 1 2/3 innings, Rocha worked 2 1/3, and Harlan pitched the final three frames.
Every Marauders batter had at least one hit in the game. Max Moroff plated half of Bradenton’s runs with a three-RBI triple in the sixth inning off Austin Pruitt (W, 1-1). Josh Bell went 2-for-5 with an RBI, Adam Frazier had a double and an RBI, and Jeff Roy extended his hitting streak to five games with a ninth inning base hit.
The Marauders open a three game series against the Mets Friday night at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie. Tyler Glasnow is slated to make his season debut for Bradenton. The right hander is rated as the third best prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization by Baseball America. The game can be heard online at www.BradentonMarauders.com.
