Charlotte Hayes Mattson, dedicated wife, mother of two, and friend of many- passed away peacefully on December 17, 2022, at the age of 93 in Bradenton, FL.

Charlotte was born on March 14, 1929, to William Alexander and Aurelia McClure Hayes in Due West, SC. After Charlotte graduated from Flintville High School in 1946, she went on to study teaching at Erskine College and Middle Tennessee State College. Upon graduation in 1950, she began her career as a home economics teacher in Minnesota.

In 1951, Charlotte met Reynold Arthur. They were married in a double wedding with Charlotte’s brother, Horace, in 1952. Charlotte and Ray welcomed two children together, Scott in 1960 and Cindy in 1963. Through the years, Charlotte was a vital part of the Westminster Presbyterian Church Congregation, serving as an elder and deacon. In fact, she was the first Presbyterian female elder in the family. Charlotte was a stranger to no one and found great purpose in serving others at Our Daily Bread with the church. Everyone who knew Charlotte felt her big heart and giving nature.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Aurelia, as well as her brothers, Jesse Brown Hayes, Horace Haywood Hayes and Samuel Lester Hayes. She is survived by her two children, Scott Hayes Mattson of Bradenton, Cindy Annette Mattson of Miami Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Charlotte Nicole Mattson of Dalton, GA, Brett Alexander Mattson of Sarasota and Luca Rey Mattson of Miami Beach, FL and three great-grandchildren, Camden James, Caitlyn Aurelia and Carleigh Grace Thompson of Dalton, GA.

A Celebration of Life will be 11 am Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West Bradenton, FL 34207, followed by burial at Mansion Memorial Park.
