Gearing up for the Bradenton Area River Regatta

The Bradenton Police Department is gearing up for a busy and exciting weekend, February 20-22. We’re expecting tens of thousands of race fans, baseball fans, and visitors to be in and around downtown Bradenton. Please review the event details below and plan for traffic impacts and road closures.

Friday, February 20 - 11th Annual Bradenton Area River Regatta Kickoff

The opening night of the Bradenton Area River Regatta takes place Friday evening. There are no road closures, but parking will be restricted near Rossi Park.

The kickoff event will feature live music and vendors at Rossi Park, starting at 5 p.m. A drone and fireworks show is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. and will last about 16 minutes. The best viewing areas in Bradenton are along the Riverwalk between Rossi Park and the observation tower.

Saturday, February 21 - Full Day of Events

Saturday includes the LECOM 5K Run/Walk, the Bradenton Public Market, and the Bradenton Area River Regatta. Road closures are expected from approximately 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. Follow BPD on social media for real-time updates.

Key impacts include:

The Green Bridge will be closed; drivers must use the DeSoto Bridge.

Trolley service will run between Bradenton and Palmetto.

9th Street W will be closed between Manatee Avenue and the Green Bridge.

12th Street W will be closed between Manatee Avenue and 1st Street.

3rd Avenue W will be eastbound only between 9th Street W and 1st Street.

The Bradenton Area River Regatta begins at 10 a.m., featuring Formula 1, Formula Lights, and Tri-Hull racing, along with flyboard exhibitions, live music, vendors, family fun zones, and more in both Bradenton and Palmetto. Sunday, February 22 - Pirates Spring Training

The Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training home opener against the Tampa Bay Rays begins at 1:05 p.m. at LECOM Park. There are no road closures, but anticipate heavy traffic throughout the Spring Training season.

Additional Notes

The Gulf Islands Ferry will NOT operate on Friday or Saturday.

Throughout the weekend, BPD and our local law enforcement will work to keep everyone safe.
