Chester "Chet" Mills passed away at Blake Hospital, Bradenton, Florida on October 13, 2022.

Chicago, Illinois was his birthplace in 1933. He lived in many different places in this country, but Chet was a long-time resident of the Lafayette, Indiana area. Most recently he lived in Bradenton, Florida for the past 23 years.

He was a self-taught wood carver and a mighty fine painter. Chet absolutely loved following Purdue basketball and football. He was an accountant who spent most of his career at the National Homes Corporation and then at Purdue University. Chet retired from Purdue University in 1997 where he was employed for nearly 20 years and advanced to being an administrator in the Housing and Food Services Business Office. This was a job where the entry requirements were for someone with a Masters degree. Chet got the job with just his GED because he impressed the interviewer with his attitude and plain desire to accomplish the job.

A proud Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Chet will be interred at the National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.

Chet is survived by his wife of 66 years, Madge; sons, Brandon (Mary) and Anthony (Joanie); six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at a later date. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
