The City of Bradenton’s School Speed Zone Camera Program has resumed for the 2026-2027 academic year. During the 2025-2026 school year, the cameras recorded 17,177 speeding violations. Here’s what drivers should know.
- Speed enforcement cameras monitor 10 schools within city limits throughout the entire school day.
- The cameras enforce both the reduced school zone speed limit when the warning lights are flashing and the regular posted speed limit at all other times during the school day.
- Radar and LiDAR technology is used to detect vehicle speeds. When a vehicle travels 10 mph or more above the posted speed limit, the system captures photos and video of the vehicle and license plate. A $100 violation is then mailed to the vehicle’s registered owner.
- Registered owners may request a hearing to contest a violation.
- Camera enforcement is not active outside school hours, on weekends, or on holidays when school is not in session.
- Camera locations, school-specific enforcement times and answers to frequently asked questions are available at bradentonpd.com/schoolzonecameras.
Please slow down, stay alert and help keep students safe.
