Posted

BRADENTON--Mayor Poston cast the tie-breaking yay vote twice as the City Council approved an alcoholic beverage license and lounge on Old Main Street at Wednesday's regular meeting in City Hall. Councilwoman Barnebey and Councilman Byrd voted no while Councilmen Smith and Gallo voted yes. Vice-Mayor Roff was absent attending a meeting in Washington DC which left the deciding votes to Mayor Poston.

450 12th St. W location of new lounge

Paul Kotlarcyzk owner of "The Distillery" plans to close the current location of the establishment at 108 44th Ave. E and move it to Old Main Street (450 12th St. W). The city planning commission had previously approved the ordinance in January. The new lounge will replace a photo studio and will also have light late-night dining.

No members of the public spoke in opposition to this ordinance, however several residents have spoken out at previous planning commission and city council meetings about the number of bars on Old Main Street. Councilwoman Barnebey had previously voted against another Irish themed lounge slated for 302 Old Main Street on December 15, 2010

questioning the direction of development in downtown Bradenton.
