BRADENTON--The public will get another opportunity to provide input on the City of Bradenton's Form-Based Codes at two meetings in City Hall on February 2nd. The first meeting is the City Council Workshop beginning at 8:30 a.m. in council chambers at 101 Old Main Street. At 1:30 p.m., there will be a public meeting in council chambers.
City Planning Director Tim Polk announced the second draft of the Form Based Codes would be made available for public comment at last Wednesday's Planning Commission meeting. The purpose of form based codes is to offer more predictable built results in development of the city as an alternative to conventional zoning. These codes are adopted into city or county law as regulations and are not mere guidelines.
The Dover-Kohl & Partners Town Planning Team will present the second draft of the code, including the overall timeline and process, by which the code was created with a discussion of what has changed from the first draft. Community leaders, stakeholders, and residents will see what has been produced since the September 2010 workshops and how their measurements and ideas were translated into the metrics of the code.
