MANATEE COUNTY – Anna Maria’s pristine beaches will receive national recognition later this month when the Clean Beaches Coalition delivers five “Blue Wave” flags to Manatee County. The public is invited to an open ceremony on Wed., Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Coquina Beach when Concession Clean Beaches Coalition Founder Walter McLeod will deliver the flags that will be flown over the public beaches being recognized:

The beaches were certified by the Washington D.C.-based council in May. The Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (BACVB) was presented with the “BLUE WAVE” flag at its National Tourism Luncheon on May 9. The certification designates Manatee County Beaches as healthy and clean.
After the ceremony, everyone is invited to help with Adopt-A-Shore Cleanup of Coquina Beach hosted by Keep Manatee Beautiful.
The Blue Wave program is the first national environmental certification for beaches. Now in its 13th year, the program is recognized as a reliable benchmark for well-maintained beaches and eco-friendly tourism. For more information on the Clean Beach Council, visit www.cleanbeaches.com.
