Community Help BPD and Kingdom of Life Get Local Kids Toys for Christmas

Posted

BRADENTON – The Bradenton Police Department is partnering with Kingdom Life Christian Church and Toys R’ Us for the fifth consecutive year for the community outreach program called “Honoring the Badge.” The purpose of the program is to provide toys to needy children while at the same time teaching them that police officers are their friends. Community members can help the cause by donating funds to be used in purchasing the gifts.

The goal is to raise money and buy Toys R’ Us gift cards in $25 denominations. The children, under the age of 12, will be invited to join off-duty, uniformed Bradenton Police Officers from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Toys R’ Us, 512 Cortez Rd. The children will be chosen by community leaders and most will be from working families who do not have money to buy Christmas presents this year.

Each child will be teamed up with a police officer to go on a shopping spree. The officer will assist the child in selecting a toy or toys under $25 and taking him/her to the cash register to pay for the gift with a gift card provided by community donations.

To help this cause, please send donations to Kingdom Life Christian Church, 825 9th St. W., Bradenton, FL 34205 or call Pastor Don at (941) 773-1556. .
