Community Manatee County Holiday Closures, Garbage Collection and MCAT schedules

MANATEE COUNTY – The holiday season brings a number of changes in hours and operations for county government agencies and facilities. From bus routes and trash collection, to county-owned golf courses, libraries and recreation facilities, TBT has your complete listing of impacted services.

Christmas (Tuesday, Dec. 25)

• County Government offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25; 

• Garbage collection in unincorporated Manatee will be suspended on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Collections will be delayed one day the rest of the week: Tuesday collections will be on Wednesday, Wednesday collections will be on Thursday, etc.;

• All libraries will be closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25;

• G.T. Bray Recreation Center will be closed Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25, but the skate park will be open both days from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.;

• Manatee County and Buffalo Creek golf courses will be open for full play on Dec. 24 from 7 - 10 a.m.; then limited to 9-hole rounds from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pro Shops will close at 2 p.m. and as golfers complete their play that day, the courses will be closed until Dec. 26 when they reopen for full play. The courses will remain open throughout the New Year holiday;

• Fixed route and Handy Bus service will be suspended at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24. Anna Maria Island Trolley service will be suspended at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24. Only the Anna Maria Island Trolley and Beach Express will run on Christmas, Dec. 25. Normal MCAT service resumes Wed., Dec. 26.

New Year’s Day (Tuesday, Jan. 1)

• County Government offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 31 and Tuesday, Jan. 1;

• All libraries will be closed Monday, Dec. 31 and Tuesday, Jan. 1;

• G.T. Bray Recreation Center will be closed Monday, Dec. 31 and Tuesday, Jan. 1. GT Bray Skate Park will be open both days from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.;

• Manatee County Area Transit buses will maintain normal service on Dec. 31 and Jan. 2. Only the Anna Maria Island Trolley and Beach Express will run on Jan. 1;

• Manatee’s two public golf courses will remain open for full play throughout the New Year holiday.

Other information

Manatee County Property Appraiser, Manatee Supervisor of Elections office and Manatee Clerk of the Circuit Court offices will be closed Dec. 24 – 25 and Dec. 31 - Jan. 1. Manatee County Tax Collector’s Office will be closed Dec. 21, Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. It will remain open Dec. 31 and will be closed Jan. 1. Manatee County’s passive parks, beaches and preserves will remain open throughout the holidays.
