Jaden Hair, the Publisher of Steamy Kitchen and New Asian Cuisine has partnered with EZ Bean Cooker and donated $2000 to the Desoto Boys & Girls Club. Ms. Hair is working with EZ Bean Cooker to develop a recipe for their super-simple one touch bean cooker and coordinated the donation between EZ Bean Cooker, LLC and the Desoto Boys & Girls Club.

2013 Spring Adult Softball League
The Manatee County Parks and Recreation Department announces the formation of the 2013 Spring Adult Softball League. The Open League plays 14 regular season games on Monday – Thursday evenings. The Coed League plays 10 regular season games on Sunday evenings. The Spring Season is set to begin Monday, February 4th. A single elimination playoff tournament will follow.
Registration will be held from January 21 - 27. Fees include: Team Registration Fee is $400.00 (Open League) and $350.00 (Coed League). All teams are required to pay a $20.00 Association Fee. The Sponsor Fee will be determined at the informational meeting.
The Informational Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 15th at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the G.T. Bray Park Recreation Center located at 5502 33rd Avenue Drive West, Bradenton, FL. Spring Youth Basketball League at G.T. Bray Park
The Manatee County Parks and Recreation Department announces the formation of our 2013 Spring Youth Basketball League. Children ages 5-17 years old are encouraged to participate. This recreational program teaches the importance of fundamentals and teamwork in a fun, safe and competitive environment.
We will host a three week camp beginning February 4, 2013. Team practices are tentatively scheduled to begin March 4 and games will begin March 16. All dates are subject to change.
The registration fee is $65 per child and includes a team jersey. All age divisions play full-court. Teams will play eight regular season games followed by single elimination playoffs.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa and his Fire Elf are making their annual stop at Community Haven, Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 10 AM to 2 PM arriving in Bradenton Fire Department’s Engine No. 1 – a vintage 1926 American LaFrance. For the past forty years, the firefighters association continues to generously provide a delicious BBQ lunch of hotdogs and hamburgers served to over 450 people made up of Community Haven’s adult residents, children, and staff along with gifts personally delivered by Santa Claus and his Fire Elf.
The Community Haven, 4405 DeSoto Road, Sarasota, is in its 59th year serving children, teenagers, and adults with disabilities by providing a wide spectrum of services including the Selby Preschool; Kidspot (individualized therapeutic plans); adult day training; transition and employment services; community living; Kaleidoscope; Whole Child Manatee; Heavenly Haven Bakery; plant nursery; and a new group home under construction.
Much appreciation to Fire Marshall Kenny Langston and Fire Inspector Richard Findlay who purchase the food and to Fire Chief Chuck Edwards; Captain Dana Tindall; newly retired training director Tom Woods; program administrator Rebecca Pilsbury; and members of the Bradenton Fire Fighters for their generous support of Community Haven.
