"SWAT Soiree" Successful

The women of SWAT Networking-Successful Women Aligning Together attended the "SWAT Soiree" Thursday night at the Polo Grill IN Lakewood Ranch Florida.

"We had a wonderful time" stated Founder and Director, Dr. Robyn Spirtas. The ladies had an opportunity to talk about their businesses and products as well as laugh and share. SMBC’s first holiday social to benefit Toys for Tots

The first-ever holiday social for the South Manatee Business Coalition, to be held Dec. 13, will benefit the Toys for Tots program coordinated annually by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.  To register, CLICK HERE.

“This allows our organization to reach beyond our daily business network and deep into the community,” said Gregg Anderson, chair of the SMBC board. “It’s our chance to wish all Manatee County businesses and residents a happy, safe and healthy holiday season.”

SMBC’s holiday gala will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, 7051 Wireless Ct., Sarasota. Attendees are asked to bring a new unwrapped children’s toy for Toys for Tots, or a $10 donation that will be used to purchase additional toys.  All attendees must be 21 or older to attend.

In addition to the Toys for Tots effort, SMBC’s holiday social will feature Anheuser Busch products and light appetizers.

The Toys for Tots program, founded in 1948, gathers new, unwrapped toys during the holiday season and distributes them as Christmas gifts to needy children. The program distributes more than 16 million toys annually to more than 7 million children worldwide.

Timothy Petz , Vice President of NAI Manasota commercial brokerage firm represented the buyer in acquiring the remaining 72 developer-owned units at “The Oasis”, a luxurious condominium project developed by The Related Group. The Oasis is a ” top- of-class “ downtown Ft Myers riverfront condominium project consisting of 440 units in twin, 32-story towers. The average sales price per square foot for units sold in 2012 was over $163 per unit. The total purchase price was in excess of $10.8 million dollars.

Their bodies heal with the best care we can give them, but as important, their will & spirit heal as they learn to turst the love & respect that surrounds them. Our goal is to save them all. While that is humanly impossible, we save as many as we can and the ones we lose are lost with deep sorrow. No one is forgotten as we move on to the next one that needs us.

Local students will be recognized for their effort to positively impact the world through film. The Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office will proclaim December 1st  "Film Kids Day"!  The director of the Film and Entertainment office will present the proclamation of "Film Kids Day" to students of the Inspired MInds' Film Kids Program at the December 1st screening of their most recent short film "Color Me Invisible". This SCI Fi short was created by 32 local students in grades 3 through 10, and focuses on the value of staying true to yourself.  
A previous Inspired Minds' film, "The Good Kids", helped shed light on the serious issue of bullying. "The Good Kids" also received an award at the Sarasota Film Festival and continues to be shown in international film festivals.  
Heather Manley, Co-owner of Inspired Minds  says she feels honored by this gesture.  "We are so grateful to the Sarasota Film & Entertainment Office and our students will be thrilled," States Manley.  " These kids really are out to change the world, and we believe, with all of our support, that is exactly what they will do... one film at a time! "
