BRADENTON – “Live here. Give here.” - This is the mantra of John Horne, owner of the three local Anna Maria Oyster Bars, so on Dec. 9 the teachers and faculty from four local schools will be attending the 13th Annual AMOB Teachers’ Dinner at his restaurants. In addition, each Anna Maria Oyster Bar restaurant is again participating in the Adopt-A-Family program during the holidays and AMOB’s guests are helping the staff collect food, toys and fun for some very needy local families.

For the annual Teachers’ Dinner, each Anna Maria Oyster Bar restaurant selects a different school to honor during the holidays. This year AMOB’s Landside restaurant chose Daughtery Elementary School, the Ellenton restaurant picked Ballard Elementary School, and the Cortez restaurant selected Manatee Elementary School plus the local PACE Center for Girls. This will bring to 30 the total number of local elementary and middle schools that have joined the AMOBs to celebrate the Christmas season.

Horne said, “This is our way of giving back to the area’s teachers, administrators, faculty members, custodians and even give the lunchroom staff a busman’s holiday and we serve them! They all do an amazing job throughout the year with the community’s young children, so we feel it is important to show them we appreciate their dedication and hard work.”
