Community Spotlight: Bruce Williams Homes Builds Two Foster Homes

In an effort to help some of Manatee's most vulnerable children, Bruce Williams Homes has partnered with Guardian Angels of SWFL and Florida Baptist Children’s Home to

build two Foster Family Homes in Manatee County. Since announcing their plans two years ago, the two homes have been completed and will have a Grand Opening on April 6th.

“We are honored to be able to partner with Guardian Angels of SWFL and Florida Baptist Children’s Home along with all of our trade partners to provide a great home for two foster families to enjoy,” said Britt Williams, President of BW Homes. “This was an opportunity to participate in a pilot program to design and build homes for foster families willing to take on sibling groups and up to six foster children.”

Unlike traditional foster homes, in which the parents take children into their homes, with the Foster Family Homes, the parents and children move into the home together. Both homes, which are located off Ellenton-Gillette Road in Palmetto, are 6 bedroom/6.5 bath homes and the married couples who will live in them will not pay rent, only utilities. They will be required to meet state standards to qualify as foster parents as well as meet the requirements of Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, a faith-based non-profit who will supervise them.

Bobbie Price, President of Guardian Angels of SWFL said, “The big thing is that we get to keep sibling groups together. This was one of our main goals. Not to mention, the couples are going to get to move into a lovely brand-new home, which will help them be well-equipped to do what they are being called to do.”

Williams added, “We made every attempt to design a home that would feel welcoming, function well and live efficiently. We look forward to partnering with Guardian Angels of SWFL and Florida Baptist Children’s Home on future projects.”
