Community Spotlight Community Spotlight: Overcome Birth Defects Delivers Toys to Children at Local Hospitals

Overcome Birth Defects’ The Toy Cabinet delivered over $2,000 worth of toys to children in Manatee and Sarasota Memorial Hospitals on Friday, December 21^st. Toys were

donated at 11 am at Manatee Memorial and 1 pm at Sarasota Memorial Hospitals.

Overcome Birth Defects and The Toy Cabinet began holding toy drives in 2010. The nonprofit was formed due to Founder Christina Sisti’s experiences of undergoing surgery during the holidays. She remembered how it felt to be in the hospital and the joy that she felt when toys were delivered to the children on the Pediatric Unit in both NY’s Columbia Presbyterian and New York University Hospitals. She began the nonprofit to bring the same feeling of joy to children on the Suncoast who are hospitalized during the holidays.
