Community Spotlight: Goodwill Manasota Honored with Nonprofit of the Year

BRADENTON – Goodwill Manasota was honored with the Nonprofit of the Year Award, awarded by the Tampa Bay Business Journal, at the 2014 Nonprofit of the Year Awards luncheon on Thursday, June 5, 2014.

 

An independent panel of judges selected Goodwill Manasota out of 41 other finalists for the top accolade. Other local finalists included the Sarasota Ballet of Florida Inc., Forty Carrots Family Center, Big Cat Rescue Corp., The Roskamp Institute and Southeastern Guide Dogs.

 

“We are truly flattered to be recognized with this high honor,” said Bob Rosinsky, president and CEO of Goodwill Manasota. “This acknowledgement is really a testament to our dedicated staff, board and volunteers who change lives every day through the power of our work.”

 

The ninth annual awards aim to honor nonprofit organizations making a difference in the community every day. Since its inception in 2005, the awards program recognizes organizations that demonstrate strong financial best practices and lean management structures that help them meet their service goals.

With the sales of donated goods and philanthropic donations, Goodwill is able to assist people with disabilities and other barriers to employment by providing job skills training and employment opportunities.
