BRADENTON - The Gettel Family of Dealerships recently partnered with Hope Kids Community for a 5th Annual Day of Hope run in a successful back to school backpack drive.

The goal of the program is to serve the children of Manatee and Sarasota communities that are in great need for back to school supplies.

Day of Hope founder Pam Hawn started the program five years ago. Pam and her husband were self-employed and felt the effects of the recession. She was concerned how she was going to get her children necessary school supplies herself, and knew that many parents were going through the same issue.

Kids are given a backpack full of school supplies, a supply of health care items such as shampoo, sun screen, combs, brush, body wash, etc., dental checkup, Health checkup, haircuts, shoes, and gift certificates for Bealls and Payless Shoe Stores. The Gettel Automotive Group has assisted the program by offering all of its Bradenton and Sarasota stores as a drop-off location for donated items.
